Hypothyroidism, Diet, And You

By Dr. Kevin Dobrzynski

You may already recognize a strong connection between hypothyroidism, diet, and you.

Unfortunately the doctor you make an appointment with might not get adequate insight on how you can control hypothyroidism.

Your doctor should have a ready answer for the following question, what enables my body to produce thyroid hormone?

Here's a question you should ask your doctor... "How does my body make thyroid hormone".

Continue the discussion by asking where your body goes to get iodine and tyrosine. If the answer is not from your diet, you should question your doctor further.

The next question you should ask is... "Where does my body get iodine and tyrosine" The answer, "your diet".

Now, your body does need additional nutrients to make thyroid hormone other than the two I mentioned. I'm just using them as an example, and they are the most important nutrients. Your body also requires copper, zinc, selenium, magnesium, manganese, vitamin A, and B vitamins to create and convert thyroid hormone.

The environment and food intake are what cause hypothyroidism to occur. A stressful existence plays a part as well. Why then, if these are able to cause thyroid problems, should they not be a part of the treatment?

Treatment protocol should be easy to configure when the cause of a disease is known. But, modern medicine does not always use that approach. The focus is often placed on the treatment rather than the cause. I wonder if you agree.

When the cause of a disease is known, it should then be simple to figure out how to treat it. Modern medicine places the focus on the treatment for the disease rather than investigating what causes it. You may or may not agree with this statement.

So, how does diet and the environment lead to hypothyroidism or any condition/disease? These two things lead to vitamin and mineral deficiencies and toxicity of the body, which eventually lead to a breakdown in your body.

Again, there are more complex issues with dis-ease of the body and how you can heal the body with food, but it is possible.

This confirms the existence of a specific connection between hypothyroidism and diet and you.

Eat well and be well.
